REVIEW

Mid-life Crisis starts out real sweet and a nice roll on an old skidder road. The deception is over quick. The first technical section is a 15 foot descent down a steep. It's soft, loose, slippery and ass off the seat ride. After you put back the family in their place its over a log and then the crisis begins. The first steep section is a hang on and let the bike go where it please section and pray for redemption. This is the section I hit a tree and the tree won that time, a month later I'm still carrying the scar. Now the trail let's up for a few seconds and then into the final section of steep and switchbacks. The first two switchbacks aren't that difficult but it's the grade of the trail that can make you think twice. After the second switchback and going to the third and final turn in the trail is a steep section. Now it isn't that tough to ride dry but wet is another story. My buddies named this section The Mario Plunge. My front wheel went one way and I the other. When I jumped off the bike I went right and over the edge into a stump and kept on going down till I hit bottom about 20 feet below. I was grateful I had purchased armour. After I picked myself up and actually walked to my bike (still up top) everybody high-fived me on a beautiful bail. It always feels good to walk away from a potentially dangerous bail.

So after this is the final turn in the trail. It's actually the toughest section on the trail. The turn is tight and then into a steep fast section. Just hang on and watch out for the tree on the right. Finally the trail levels out and onto a foot bridge and out you go. No need to make yourself look foolish, get a girlfriend 20 years your junior and the sleek sports car; oh what the fuck life's too short. Which crisis looks more appealing?
