REVIEW

Logs of Love and Hate is Burnaby Mountain's tribute to the North Shore. It's choke full of stunts and very challenging. The nice difference between this trail and the ones on the Shore is there is only about 100 feet of elevation difference from start to finish. Now to the trail description. I ran out of film before the end of the trail, so I'll only comment on the pictures below.

The trail starts out nondescriptly with a log to get over and then over a half buried log into a depression. This might not sound too technical but it claimed Nick's shocks by bending them out of shape. Next is the first of many logs encountered on the trail, hence its name. The first log traverses a marshy section of the trail (environmentalists take note ecologically sensitive area not damaged) and has been covered with steel mesh. Once you get off of this log it's onto the next stunt, a plank ride up and across a 2x8 to connect you with the next log (getting a picture of what the trail is about). Drop off this log and onto another plank ramp and then the next log. As you're riding the singletrack you'll come across the only real natural steep section. Okay the plank helps you get on top of a boulder and then you can ride down it (it's only about 3-4 feet tall). Next is a run up to a ramp where you can get some air time. After landing your cross-up it's into one of the many wheelie drops and then up a ladder ramp and across onto a log with a ride out or wheelie drop. Finish that one and now it's a log ride with a ride off onto an adjacent log with a wheelie drop at the end. The signature stunt is next. Ride along a log and then onto a plank which gets onto a ladder bridge with a teeter totter near the end and then a nasty ride down a steep plank. As you've more than likely finished this stunt it's onto the next log ride (very thin start) with a 3-4 foot wheelie drop. If you get enough speed after the wheelie you can get some air off the next ramp. Next is some singletrack that leads onto a ramp up a log and down the roots on the other side. The small boulder that you encounter next shouldn't be too much of a problem for any member of the group. As you continue down the trail it's another wheelie drop before the side by side a-frames. The one on your left will be the easier of the two but it makes for a great place to practice. The next stunt is the last one I will comment on due the fact I ran out of film and there are quite a few more stunts after this one. The final stunt is a teeter totter log ride combo, it's been built with the faint of heart in mind. It's also another great stunt to practice on.

Sorry but this trail is gone.
