Surprise, surpise, surprise... The optional steep entrance still exists?! I bailed hard on it nearly 20 years ago. Didn't lean back far enough. Funny enough most of the technical sections stlll exist or have been improved or modified over all these years.

This trail is what the North Shore is known for; rock rolls, MMSs, roots, and stonework.

There is a boulder ride down I believe that is steeper and longer than the one on Espresso. One other large boulder has a steepish log plank ride down and it appears to be the same from way back when.

Decided to hike down this trail to get a few photos, plus hoping there wasn't much snow, surprise, surprise, surprise. No bike or boot marks after the 6th switchback but decided why not, I've made worse decisions. Right off the bat, I slipped and slid down the first few feet of the trail. After a couple of hundred meters I lost the trail altogether and decided to just walk downhill towards the Access Road. I ended up coming across the old skywalk on the decommissioned Flying Circus trail. Made the Access Road around 20 minutes after losing the trail. Can't wait to get back up there when the snow has melted.

REVIEW

Well this trail has been worked on and is a joy to ride. Thanks Pete. All the structures and stunts on this trail have an easy reroute for us who think too much; all the routes are marked either as a black diamond or a double black. Whichever route you take the trail will test your skills and give a queasy feeling in your stomach. There are steeps, ladder ramps, log rides, few rock faces, and switchbacks thrown in for good measure. Oil Can (Upper) is also a great trail to practice on. There are three signature stunts on the trail. The Big Smooth, The Little Smooth, and my favorite (I don't know its name) the Big Log Ride. The Big Log Ride is a hoot and stressful all at once. My first attempt was a near miss, I screwed the last bit onto the skinny. Enough of this just take a look at the pictures below and see if you're up to this now classic of the North Shore.
