REVIEW

This trail has been around for 20+ years and one of the few black diamond trails I can ride from beginning to end without stopping. Okay, I ride around jumps. I don't do jumps anymore. What was nice to see was the old trail sign still around. It was off to the side of the trail but not thrown away.

Pingu has two distinct sections. The first section is all downhill and the second is more level. The trail also has been extended and now ends across from Team Pangor.

The first section starts off with a roll down some rock work, followed by a drop that can be jumped or ridden down. Another drop/ride down, then some more rock work, and then the first structure. A plank bridge and ramp combo; over and down. Really nice and a good place to get comfortable with these structures. If it is not your cup of tea, just to the right is some rock work to ride down. After this is the relatively level section.

The second section is a nice break from the usual of the North Shore. What I really like and appreciate are the pseudo jumps. You can either jump or ride the plank bridge spanning the gap. There are a couple of jumps off the side of the trail and one longer ladder bridge. The trail ends with some really nice singletrack. Once finished you are staring at the entrance to Team Pangor.

I'm impressed with the work that has gone into Pingu and do really appreciate it.

REVIEW

The beginning section of The Pingu is tough and would normally have been rated a black. It was given a lower rating because it wasn't on the same scale as Team Pangor. There are a few drops on this section, but generally it is just plain steep. The bottom half of the trail is great singletrack. The builder has put in a log pyramid and a few ramps up and down logs. The best part is the great looking singletrack through the trees. Enjoy this one.
